This was a hint from the Home Affairs Minister to the Police Commissioner not to investigate the chairman nor any senior officials. Apparently the Commissioner ignored the hint.

If Commissioner Cassar is doing his duty without fear or favour then there is a strong possibility that he will be the next one to go. We, the people, must not accept this. If this is what happens we have to stand up and say NO ! otherwise we are all a bunch of wimps terrified of a Dictator rather than the upright people of Malta.

Will Police Commissioner Michael Cassar will be remembered – and respected – for his ‘no nonsense’ stance as was the late Vivian De Grey for his in Mintoff’s time back in the mid-1950s?

The not so few among us who do remember those terrible times prior to Mintoff’s resignation (read ‘being thrown out by the British Governor’) in April 1958 really hope so.

Mr Cassar was never a man to lack integrity and courage in the face of criminality – particularly when he headed the anti-Drug squad and had to pay quite a heavy price at the hands of explosives ‘experts’.

Trouble is that we are having to correspond with officials at Identity Malta and have no idea whether the person we are writing to is being investigated or not.

Not that it really matters because it takes them weeks to reply.

I queued last August and completed a form in order to have an appointment – nobody has contacted me since.

The media should pay a visit to Identity Malta and check out the office for EU nationals and the one one for non-EU nationals to see the stark difference and attitude between the two.

I am of course not referring to the Citizenship by Investment office – that is across the road and they really roll out the red carpet for applicants.
