Yes I thought this was a ridiculous decision. So now we can have doctors, dentists, bus drivers, bankers etc etc stopping working in such circumstances.

Couldn’t they just have attended the funeral as a sign of respect? I guess many of them will, and that’s another day at the courts messed up.

In reply to Daphne Caruana Galizia. What is worse is that if one does not turn up for a court hearing for a perfectly valid reason like sickness, they will create one hell of a hullaballoo and pronounce you public enemy no 1.

I was one of those summoned – under threat of arrest, if you please – to appear at midday yesterday to testify in the Konrad Mizzi/Lindsay Gambin case.

I postponed an important trip to visit a seriously ill friend and duly arranged my diary around this date that has been in the book since last June.

And then I turn up and everything is cancelled. I had already turned up the day before, for the civil case, to find out that there was no hearing because Konrad Mizzi is out of the country.

They didn’t do the same when that lawyer was murdered by her husband/boyfriend in Salina, did they?

Or when that lawyer was murdered in his garage in Gozo some years ago?

Total lack of empathy for their clients and inappropriate as you say.

I’m a lawyer and they certainly don’t speak for me.

Can you imagine if you were one of those lawyers whose case is finally being heard after years of being postponed?

What the hell do you tell your client? I never even met the murdered man.

I refuse to pay any membership fees because they actually are pretty damn useless to lawyers who don’t work in Court.

Oh for a real lawyer’s union and not some brown-nosing group of court-lawyers.
