I’m getting that you weren’t around for either punk or the New Romantics.

Adam Ant was the archetype of the New Romantic movement and his look and music were not even remotely punk.

Punk was savage – with a savage look – and precisely the opposite of the frills, tartan, styled hair and heavy make-up for men that were the hallmarks of the New Romantic look.
