In reply to Leli. Well, no, it's the other way round. They were given those posts because they are 'safe' due to their close familial connections to the prime minister and his main henchman, and so could be 'trusted'. The consulates were opened for the purpose of granting visas.

Everyone’s talking about Schengen, and how lucky we are to have a prime minister who keeps us safe by getting us out of the Schengen zone.

But what they don’t know is that Malta is breaking a fundamental rule of the Dublin Regulation, which obliges states on the EU’s external frontier to guard the border and prevent undesirables from getting into the Schengen zone or the rest of the EU.

I think I have a pretty good idea where the prime minister intends to go with this. Daphne as her doubts. I hope she’s right.
