The Indian-Maltese community in Malta today remains identifiably Indian because up until this generation, and mainly for religious reasons, there was no inter-marriage with Maltese. Marriages were arranged with Hindu men and women from elsewhere. Spanish, Irish and Italian settlers did not make a point of bringing in other Spanish, Irish and Italian people to marry nor did they carry on speaking their own language down the generations.

This is a shady deal, and the Opposition should be clear about it.

While it has been crying foul in the Gaffarena saga, it is too lenient towards the shady and secretive deals Muscat struck with China, Baku, the Jordanian millionaire, the Gozo Hospital, and Karin Grech Hospital.

Gaffarena brought one of the PN members down. The PN knows it has nothing to gain from Gaffarena.

Yet, it seems to me, that some of its prominent lawyers and businessmen, have a lot to gain from Muscat’s other shady deals.
