Hardly relevant. They remain after three years on extension. It’s the equivalent of having a three year contract and then having it extended at the Foreign Office’s request with your consent or vice versa.

But the point is that you accept on the understanding that you are there for just three years.

If Norman Hamilton is recalled after just three years it means that the government is not happy with his peformance. But this is not likely to happen.
