No, but it does mean that you have no privacy whatsoever. And the house is not yours. You cannot decorate it as you wish, you cannot have your own kitchen or bathroom, and you cannot do as you please. Who would want that? Somebody who doesn’t want to grow up.

That’s completely illogical. Whether it is one’s choice or not has no bearing whatsoever on whether it is right or wrong.

It is, of course, wrong: you cannot live a properly adult life or mature emotionally or in any other way while living with your parents into your 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond.

Also, the desire to carry on living in your childhood home well into adulthood and more so into middle age means that there is something wrong with you to begin with: fear of life and of growing up.

Living at the parents’ house does not mean that they do everything for them.

By ‘start a life’, Lucienne is not referring to setting up home with somebody, but to setting up a home of your own.

People who live with their parents at 40 do not have a life of their own.

Why do people always assume that other people get a five-star service at home with their parents, and that’s why they stay?

Franco Debono’s mother doesn’t strike anyone as the sort who’s always leafing through the recipe books to come up with brilliant and innovative meals while ironing shirts and polishing the floor.

All this is so retrograde and sexist. In most homes, people are expected to pull their weight.
