I'm guessing you don't know how the Maltese electoral system works.

It knows candidates, not parties.

You don't "vote PN" but for candidates on the PN ticket.

This means that if you give your No. 1 vote to a PN candidate, and your No. 2 vote to AD, and the PN candidate fails to be elected, that vote is lost to the PN because it transfers automatically to AD.

For your vote to stay with the PN even if the candidate for whom you voted No. 1 is not elected, you have to keep moving down from 1 to at least 5 or 6 (to be safe) on PN candidates.

Your error - and many others share it - is to assume that you are voting for parties rather than for candidates.

'The prime minister is trying to condition the public's mind. He wants to show the PL is not the only one that's corrupt'.

No, his underlying message is that this country cannot be anything other than corrupt. And he does so to reinforce the evident top down mechanics so cherished in Labourspeak.

Not that it wasn't clear where Labour intended to go with the plebiscite; MEPA would treat applicants as customers who will always be right they said. They never said how.

With works in progress, we're asked to understand Labour will not consider changing laws to update to the country's aspirations, it will choose the short cut bypassing law and legislation to make the democratic process a formality. And if laws are unjust, which at times they are, the consequences are turned into an opportunity to exert influence and erode the idea of liberty supported by distinct and autonomous institutions.

Which is why the bills Muscat prefers to take to parliament are consistently about minorities and identity politics. The ultimate in fragmenting any opposition.

The message to the Ombudsman this week clear; we can do without you thank you very much. Or better, we don't need your help to settle with these individuals. What really matters is that these subscribe to the ideas that minister matters more than Ombudsman, government can do without parliament and Labour's design is Malta. Benevolent pater familias.

In the mind of the ideal voter, Mussolini is the one who made trains arrive on time.

Oh, people have LONG since stopped #ThinkingPositive. You get none of that baloney anymore. Even Kurt Farrugia has ceased his accusations of negativity. Positivity right now is completely out of synch with the public mood. Even the members of the government - with the exception of the smirking prime minister - now look really bad-tempered all the time.

I agree, with some caution. I sense a sea change. Strangely enough, it was caused by revelations of corruption among Nationalist Party MPs. People hold the Nationalist Party to far higher standards, so any news of the tiniest corruption will focus their minds in that direction. But it also means that they have stopped thinking #Positive and are starting to think hard about corruption. And it's a concept that sticks.

You cannot be dismissed if you have pulled out.

Just like you can't fire somebody who has left the job already.

And kicking people out looks too dramatic anyway. Everybody knows they are now Labour voters and working with the Labour Party, so leave it at that. Can't stand theatrics.
