In reply to je suis desole`. You inhabit another planet. Italy is a lot lovelier than Malta, the weather is identical south of Rome, and the Italian market for plastering is a lot bigger than Malta's. Oh, and they look like the locals too.

For some people life in Malta is truly better than in mainland Europe.

For at least 10 years now Syrian plasterers have been working in Malta. The majority were here illegally, living beneath the radar.

So in my opinion, this time he is right, many Syrians who are in Malta with fake papers are just Muslims trying to make a living in a stable, affordable country that happens to enjoy lovely weather and where they can go unnoticed because of the resemblance to locals.
