Speaking of which, all the Heritage Malta signage at Fort St Angelo is rusty already.

Incredibly, part of the fort which is just metres away from the meeting-room to be used for CHOGM, is in a dangerous state and about to collapse.

Don’t get me started about the most pesky vowel sound of all. The official pronunciation of “Maulta” seems to have been changed to “Mahlta”. So we have Air[English word] Mahlta[Maltese word], Television[English word] Mahlta[Maltese word], and Malta [Maltese] etc. etc. Song Contest [English]. I keep hearing tourist guides going on about Mahlta this and Mahlta that.

There’s nothing patriotic about Maltese pronunciation for an English word.
