Let’s say, by way of example, that the police don’t bother to hunt down robbers and the minister is not too troubled with this attitude.

Now, if someone stole a painting and the police didn’t bother to try and find the culprit, it would be bad enough.

However, if the thief put it up for sale on the Internet after the theft was in the news, and if people queued to buy it, then I think the public’s behaviour could be said to condone the authorities’ lack of regard for law and order.

It’s the same here. The typical Maltese won’t condemn something if s/he has any use for it, whether it’s illegal or not.

The measure is not legality but convenience, personal profit and similar traits that are prompted by pure selfishness.

It is downright crazy that something like this happens especially in an illegally kept zoo.

So shameful.

Licensing issues there may well be but they don’t seem to be troubling the owners too much.
