Yes, in fact lots of people work because they enjoy it.

And your assumption that women whose husbands earn quite a lot of money need not work themselves is idiotic for another reason: it assumes that women have access to their husband’s income, that they are free to use it (if they have access to it in the first place) without asking permission for every purchase, that they will want to be in the marriage permanently no matter how rough things get, and that their husband will never come home one day and announce that he’s leaving.

Women are never assumed to have earned money of their own, and if they have parents with money, it is invariably assumed that those parents are willing to spend the rest of their lives handing it out to their children so that they don’t have to work.
