Some logic would help you with your reasoning.

‘The Nationalist Party would have struggled to win without him in 1987’ and ‘he did the right thing with the police force’ are two ENTIRELY separate and distinct arguments.

Don’t mix the two.

It is the second we are talking about. “He gave them the chance to rehabilitate themselves”: RUBBISH. He left them there because he owed them. He was Malta’s leading criminal lawyer and had the professional network to support that. Could it have been more obvious? The right and sensible thing to do would have been to kick them out and prosecute them. He preferred to retain their personal loyalty, personal loyalty which served him well because he was the one Nationalist politician the Labour Party and its rabid media NEVER touched or criticised.

Who is this ‘we’? Of course there was a choice. But it was a difficult choice. So ‘you’ didn’t take it. Sometimes, the easiest choice leads to the greatest problems, as has happened with the police force.

He should never have been made Minister for the Police, for roughly the same reasons Manuel Mallia should not have been.

I’ve given up on changing anything.

We would need to do away with the legacy of Herbert Ganado, Guzè Ellul Mercer, Dominic Mintoff, Guido Demarco, Peter Serracino Inglott and Joe Azzopardi.

They are sacred untouchable figures.

I’m not surprised that people prefer Labour. They don’t do doublespeak. They lie outright, but they never equivocate. Especially with Muscat, who’s been trained by the best.
