The Callejas are Labour and have long been Labour. That is exactly why the Labour Party, starting with Alfred Sant, supports them in return.

The spectacle of Alfred Sant sticking up for a convicted cocaine trafficker when he was brought to trial on attempted murder charges was quite unedifying. I’m sure it was one of the issues which contributed to the deterioration of his public image.

In reply to Sea Bastion. He means the village bards and schoolmasters who demonstrated their intelligence their own the Times of Malta opinion columns. They think of him, Ganni, the same way they think about a lot of nasty things. They pretend he doesn't exist. Malta is a world of self-contained (and self-absorbed) bubbles.
