His tie tells a story, also. Those ties used to be sold in Hamrun and Valletta about 20 years ago to people wearing a suit for the first time at a New Year’s event.

It is a real pity that it in this photograph it was completely overshadowed by the slippers.

No, I think those are special shoes which unfold to make them easier to put on, as he is probably far too obese to reach his feet, let alone tie his laces.

Of course there are far smarter ones, but they aren’t too cheap at around 250 euros, so the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy for Tourism probably uses one pair for all occasions.
