In yesterday’s Times of Malta, there was an article about the success of the dockyard since Palumbo took over. It was reported that the work environment and work practices are so much better than before.

It was also reported that in the past two decades the dockyard drained 2.3 billion euros of taxpayers’ money.

Is this the success for which Tony Zarb was awarded the Gieh ir-Republika? He surely was the master militant behind the national deficit which we and other generations will have to carry.

Protocol has absolutely nothing to do with dress. Why is everybody talking about protocol nowadays? A few weeks ago, a senior police officer told a journalist at The Malta Independent that “protocol” dictates that convoys of cars carrying VIPs shouldn’t stop if there’s an accident. Protocol? Those are security measures, not protocol.

So, just to clear things up, protocol is the official procedure or system of rules governing affairs of state or diplomatic occasions.

Whatever the case, or the occasion, men must NEVER wear hats indoors but women may – at times, should – wear them on formal occasions before 5/6pm. It’s extremely bad manners for a man not to take off his hat before stepping indoors, even if just to somebody’s home, and even if the hat is casual.
