The building already had a permit on it, and permit to expand! These people kept to the existing footprint, they didn’t use the permit to build an extra floor.

The building didn’t mask as an information centre, they had shown that it was going to be a restaurant plus information centre. I don’t know why you keep on saying the restaurant is large, it shows you never been.

And yet you’re knocking them. Why, what you got against them?

There have been loads of commercial restaurants that got funding with EU Structural funds, the Tourist Authority had a whole scheme for that.

Even rich places like the Fortina, Xara Palace and the Westin got EU funds! At least this place has a completely original Maltese restaurant, based on local ingredients, takes in students, gives free training in something positive, what do the other hotels and restaurants that got EU funding do, altruistically?

I am not involved with the owners of The Cliffs, so I have no idea if they had a brother inside the MEPA but why should they need one, when it is all legal?

There was a building there before, and it already had a permit to demolish it and rebuild, adding another floor so there was no problem with permits.

Instead they decided to add nothing and converted the building by saving and rehabilitating the British building, including its underground air-ducts. What is wrong with that?

Mr Cachia does not deny that the permit by MEPA was issued in favour of the brother of a high MEPA employee.

How many ‘abandoned buildings’ in ODZ land were miraculously turned into restaurants? Do you have to have your brother working at MEPA for this to happen?

Was the restaurant project masqued as an ‘Information Centre’? So it’s okay to have a very part-time information centre and a very full-time restaurant on ODZ land?

They literally have no comprehension of the meaning of standards. One only has to take a good look at the current mindset of PM Muscat and his MPs ….and then ask one rational and simple question: what does representing us and the country actually mean for them?

Recognition? Kudos? Hard work? Dignity? Respect? Job satisfaction? Taking pride in representing the very people who voted for them?

Nope…not a chance…none of the above….because the PM and his MPs are in awe of money and monied people; they are totally besotted and in love with their high salary, the perks and the goodies, and the elevated status and life-style which being in politics brings for them and their loved ones.

Their corrupt way of thinking tells them that the values and standards of hard work, honesty and integrity will not get them a big house and a free car. It doesn’t get them a second home. It doesn’t pay for the children’s education or for the family’s private health insurance. It doesn’t buy them free upgraded air travel or a lovely foreign family holiday two or three times a year. It doesn’t get them the designer clothes, shoes and bags; the latest mobile phone; iPad or computer. It doesn’t get them the free meals and drinks or VIP entry to entertainment venues etc; etc; etc.

And that’s why their ongoing and rapidly growing ignorance and arrogance continually shouts out: f**k the electorate; f**k the pride in my work; f**k having respect for others; f**k integrity; and whilst we are at it…f**k everything and everyone..except me and mine.

Is it true that the MEPA permit was issued for an “Information Centre”?

Is it true that the “Information Centre” consists on a few boards on the flora and fauna of Dingli, tucked away in a massive restaurant built on ODZ land?

Is it true that the MEPA permit was issued in favour of the brother of a person employed in a high position in MEPA?

And if this is true, how distant is the Hon. Ian Borg from all this?
