I’m still part of the PN and have no intention of quitting. Today I’ll be giving a helping hand in the fundraising marathon and in January I’ll be conducting a new tv programme on the party’s station.

But that’s not the only thing I do in life. I’m still employed with the government, assigned to immigration duties.

That’s all well and good, Mr Vella, but why now? What made you – and the party which you now support – hold back before the 2013 election?

The narrative throughout the campaign, and right up to a few weeks ago, was “we have a better plan/better proposti”. Nothing about Labour’s corruption. “Gas down ghal gol-hajt” wasn’t about the evil, but about how Labour’s proposti weren’t as good as the Nationalist Party’s.

It will be next to impossible now to change the narrative now. The Nationalist Party in 2013, the Opposition, and PN candidates like yourself never went to the root of the matter. They campaigned against Labour as if it was just a normal opposing party in a normal European democracy. Possibly because so many of them (not you) have their finger in the pie. But Labour is no normal party, and Malta is not a normal democracy.

The evil needs to be named. Start with these three, and let’s see if you get any support from your party.
