The US diplomatic service has been a laughing stock amongst countries’ overseas representatives worldwide for decades.

It is made up in its majority of gullible, bungling, inept and incompetent individuals whether they are career diplomats or not.
The same applies to the US intelligence services. They couldn’t tell a terrorist from the Papal Nuncio.
