My interpretation is similar to Daphne’s – the story of Judas is one of greed that turned into bitter remorse and the ultimate tragedy, that of taking one’s own life.

You know, this business of comparing him to Judas just because he betrayed his leader is quite ridiculous. I can’t stand it. The essential element in the story of Judas is not that he betrayed his leader, but that the guilt he felt for doing so caused him to throw away his reward and then hang himself.

It is not a story about betrayal, but a story about guilt and repentance.
