In reply to Daphne Caruana Galizia. Why is everyone so reluctant to name China and Azerbaijan? I suppose we prefer to discuss the Gaffarenas and the Cafe Premiers because we can only deal with that corruption within that order of magnitude.

That really isn’t the corruption you’ve got to be looking for. You have to ask yourself: what’s the incentive? Why would the Prime Minister and Konrad Mizzi want to strike those deals?

There’s nothing in it for Malta, so it follows that there must be something in it for them.

What you say here highlights the irrationality of the Maltese who apply two weights two measures about corruption. This irrationality gives Muscat the chance to boast that the latest ‘people’s perception of (lack of) corruption’ index has risen by four places.

The truth of the matter is that people’s tolerance level of corruption is much wider for Labour than for the PN. This may be due to Labour’s scathing propaganda drummed into poorly-informed gullible minds.

This view will naturally be pooh-poohed by Labour apologists accusing it of snobbery and haughtiness, but it’s there for all to see.
