I wasn’t stopping anyone doing that. I didn’t even suggest the criticism should be “gentler”.

However, it seems that the only reason you can give to justify the particular style of criticism aimed at Debono (which is what I commented about) is that one has the right to do as they deem fit. Necessary but not sufficient, I suggest.

Any politician who can’t take mockery, ridicule and criticism has no place in civilised European/North American/Australian society.

His inability to take it should have served as the ‘litmus test’ by which he was weeded out. Franco Debono is non-European.
