He could have done without it, too. In the end, the small-town boy in him overwhelmed the great tenor. Instead of using his fame and talent to get out of here and never look back, he enjoys being the big fish in a small pond. I mean, Marsalforn for heaven’s sake, when you could be in, say, Porto Ercole or Biarritz.

Need you be so literal? Imagine a comedian going out on stage and cracking a joke about the drunken Irish or the stingy Scots and qualifying it with “but of course, not all Irishmen are drunks and some Scottish people are actually quite generous”.

It certainly applies to the three men protesting in these Facebook screenshots.

In reply to Daphne Caruana Galizia. I agree that what the Italian journalist implied applies to many persons, especially those holding public office under both the present and past administrations. However, it cannot be implied for all Maltese.
