Here the feeling is that the greater majority of journalists tread very carefully, tip-toeing around the subject as though they’re afraid to wake the demons.

A “setback?” Honestly? Is that the best a Head of Public Policy can do? No qualification for the word “setback:” a serious setback, a grave setback, an untenable setback? or another word entirely.

“Setback” has the same level of gravity as hindrance, misfortune, disappointment, hitch, reversal etc. I probably expect more. DId he speak in Maltese and this was the ToM translated version?

I just can’t understand how serious matters are rendered so bland. This is hardly readable as a news item, even though he does “urge” journalists to dig deeper.

Can people not be forthright with their opinions, or are they made bland? I just cannot understand this phenomenon. Is this a translation issue that neutralises the message?
