Maltese law does not differentiate between online and offline, but merely concerns itself with ‘publication’. And the law does not even mention journalists, but ‘the author’.

Apart from the fact that it is highly uncommon to do so it makes one assume they are trying to get at the messenger rather than tackle the truth.

Judge Bonello’s statement is not only a reliable conclusion by a highly respected man, but a reassuring indicator for keeping the public informed with the support of such journalists’ sources.
