I would like to think so too, as do many others. Unfortunately this does not seem to be reflected in reality. Take a look at the latest polls. Even though the latest I could find is not recent enough to poll about the latest goings on, enough has happened since the last general election for people to change their opinion, one would think. And yet Labour is still more popular.

People are more concerned about buses then they are about a corrupt government.

Where did the visa scam money go? The “development fund” of hundreds of millions from the Passport scam? Waiting out that year at Henleys? The China 2010 illegal contract: final payment “on completion of election objective?”

Not just Konrad Mizzi. Keith Schembri too – and whoever hides behind Schembri’s name.

Tax evasion and money laundering are simply the natural consequences of monies obtained through illegitimate means such as drug trafficking, illegal arms trading, prostitution, people smuggling, corruption, etc. This is primarily about the provenance of funds kept or meaning to be kept within one or more companies in Panama.

Even if Konrad Mizzi wanted to pay tax on them and avoid laundering such monies, he couldn’t. Why? Because they have been obtained through corruption, kickbacks or illegal commissions through the sale of national assets or the purchase of goods and services for the state by state funds.

Money laundering, bribery, corruption, theft from the pockets of the Maltese people. Where do you stop? And there is noone to blame except those imsieken who voted for this lot.
