If you raise it by more, people will be laid off, businesses will cut recruiting, and employers will be in trouble because their wage bill will go up exponentially in a way they haven’t planned for. And you will also have to pay more taxes because the biggest employer of people on the minimum wage is the state – so the state’s wage bill goes up, too.

The way to earn more money is to get a better job, not to sit there expecting the state to raise the minimum wage so you can stay on it.

The policies of a political party that aims to raise the standard of living for all are geared towards creating an environment where forces of demand and supply raise wages and there are better jobs to be had, while people are trained to be able to get those better jobs.

Raising the minimum wage is a losing situation all round – it hampers employers while doing nothing to help employees.
