Give John Dalli his due. He did not have the run of the larder. He had to keep looking over his shoulder. If Fenech Adami, Gonzi or Barroso knew what he was up to, he would have been dumped (actually both Gonzi and Barroso did).

On the other hand Muscat goes out of his way to defend Mizzi and take the flak for him. One wonders why.

Don’t put all the switchers in one basket. It is the ones who switched for personal profit who should hang their heads in shame. Others who thought that time was ripe for a change and allowed themselves to be wooed by Muscat’s rhetoric are more than welcome back into the fold.

The massive chips Labour carries on its shoulders prevents it from electing a decent leader. It will take another generation of exposure to EU culture and the outside world before the party evolves sufficiently to allow it to shed its prejudices.
