I don’t think so. That would only apply in the likelihood that they are having an affair and so making a point of not talking to each other. But given that the likelihood of this is nought because he’s not interested in women, I think Occam’s Razor applies. They can’t think of any small talk so she’s staring off into space and he’s doing what every awkward person does at the table when feeling lost: pick up the menu and read it like the back of a novel.
