Similarly, the Maltese urban under-class speaks only Maltese, as a native language, and their Maltese is terrible. Why? Because they’re not educated. Without an education, your vocabulary, grammar, syntax and sense of rhythm in structuring sentences are shot to hell.

Muscat speaks three languages – Maltese, English and Italian – but he speaks them all very badly, even Maltese. This is because he is completely uneducated in the proper meaning of the word. His vocabulary is extremely limited in all three languages and his feeling for the rhythm of a sentence if practically non-existent, which is why everything has to be scripted for him and learned by rote or read off a teleprompter.

Rosianne Cutajar is similarly uneducated, leaving her unable to pick up the nuances of sentence structure and the meaning of words.

I can’t speak Italian to save my life, but you will never catch me tu-teing anybody but familiars and the dog, which means that I never tu-te anybody because none of those speak Italian.
