Turkey and the UAE (particularly Abu Dhabi, Etihad’s home base) are arch rivals in practically every area: politics, business and even religion. Turkey is an ardent supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood and the UAE has declared them a terrorist organisation. Even if the talks with Etihad have not collapsed yet, they will as soon as the Emiratis get wind of the overtures to the Turks.
