I agree 100%. However both options would be suicide for him and political murder for Muscat’s party.. Hence my point that his intention was not to condone Mizzi’s and Schembri’s actions, but rather to stay out of it completely.

Unfortunately for him, he put his foot in his mouth by responding the way he did… or rather responding at all.

I am attempting to consider the whole truth here in my comments. I am trying to be objective and impartial.

What I see is a minister who is in a very peculiar situation facing a moral dilemma. On the one hand if he remains out of it, he is seen as a liar and on the other hand if he speaks up, he creates damage to the Labour movement. What would you do in his situation without hurting the labour government/party any further?

I think if he was prepared to resign, he would have talked about it.

That’s really the issue isn’t it? He won’t resign because his resignation would hurt the party.

Mind you the party is already badly damaged, but if high ranking ministers (other than the culprit himself) start resigning, that will not only spell the end for the Labour government, but also for the Labour Party… at least for a while anyway.

What does the Police Commissioner want, the actual amounts on black and white? Isn’t the fact of opening a company in Panama when you are already a minister of the government a reasonable suspicion?

Silly me, it’s the teachers who are criminals.
