It is not coincidental that both the nominees from Malta and Poland were refused. Both governments of these countries are not projecting themselves by the way they are governing that they uphold the principles for which the EU stands.

This is the type of repercussion and price to pay that the Panamagate is having on our international image. To some extent, this repercussion is minimal when it would have to be compared to the demage it might have on investment.

Tony Abela is now claiming that technically, he is still the Labour Party’s deputy leader. That’s not what upstanding Toni told the European Parliament’s Budgetary Committee.

I just can’t for the life of me understand why the Nationalist MEPs lobbied in favour of Toni Abela. If the Nationalist Party stated, correctly so, that Toni Abela does not satisfy the criteria needed for such a post, how is it in any way logical for the MEPs to give him a helping hand, as they had also done in Karmenu Vella’s case?
