You are so correct and I wish to add one observation. If the PL had a roadmap, this was it. They have been systematically weakening institutions since when they were in Opposition.

When in Opposition they threw all institutions into a bad light. Institutions were not perfect but in general were doing a good job and served their purpose.

The Labour Party's criticism was not aimed at improving them but at weakening them by making them lose the trust of the people.

When in government they immediately wreaked havoc in the army and the police. They appointed cronies as magistrates and judges.

The prime minister and members of cabinet literally fight the Ombudsman and the Auditor General and call them names.

When institutions fail, there is nothing to stop Muscat and his corrupt team. Today we protest not only against corruption but also for the safeguarding of our institutions.

I never attended any political meetings in my life. However I did attend protest meetings whenever Labour insisted on riding roughshod over the electorate.

Today it will be against the inimitable Joseph again, protesting against his corrupt government.

Last time I attended a meeting of sorts was on the eve of the EU referendum. Since then, I have been too busy surviving the ups and downs (mainly downs) of life to give too much serious attention to anything to do with politics.

Until of late, when I realised that under this government we are slowly but surely descending into the hell which was Dom's Golden Era of the seventies and eighties.

I'm off to tomorrow's gathering at Castille, come rain or shine and call on all those who remember those days to do likewise.

Way back in 1981 as a 4 year old I remember clearly my father telling my mum we have to stand up and be counted our country needs us and we went for the first time to a mass meeting.

I remember nothing of what was said on the day but I remember the tension we felt in the air. From then on we missed only very few mass meetings, due to sickness or family mourning. But the next Sunday we were back to stand up and be counted.

Tomorrow 35 years later I will stand up to be counted again, and this time I am going with my husband and my 3 year old daughter (my parents are in their 70s but will be going too). Maybe she won't remember anything but I want to show her that no one just walks over us as people, as a nation and we let it happen.
