Janice Bartolo actually is young: she’s around 28. Owen Bonnici is young too – he’s in his mid-30s, which is not that much older than his girlfriend.

And incidentally, I don’t agree with your assessment of who will leave who. If I read their personalities and the situation correctly, Janice Bartolo will continue to cling to him and to champion him and defend his interests ferociously, but he will begin to edge away in boredom and sooner or later he’ll be discovered in the stationery cupboard with somebody he considers a step up.

If you are in a relationship with a cabinet minister or similar, you cannot be a journalist. Whatever you do, say, write or investigate will put the Minister (and you) into awkward situations.
