Not ‘many’, but rather all. Dubai only exists because of the following.

Asian slave labour: Pakistani, Bangladeshi, Nepali, Indian or Filipino, they are what the Irish were in the early 20th century, but their conditions are a hundred times worse. Dubai was literally built with their sweat and blood.

Western expertise: were it not for the droves of Europeans and Americans who migrated, and still do, and the Western companies that have been opening up in Dubai since oil was found there, that tacky concrete jungle would still be a desert.

Gulf oil money: one day they’re a tribe in the middle of the desert, the next they’re oil billionaires. A true case of more money than brains, if you will.
