The salient fact here is that Michelle Muscat owns no real estate, not even 50% of her marital home. She has nothing from her parents and has not bought anything of her own in her adult life. This means, effectively, that she has no capital assets at this point. This is a very disturbing situation for any woman in that position and she will be working to acquire something of which she will own at least 50%. If they buy or build a new home post-marriage, it will be 50% hers even if she has paid nothing towards it as it will form part of the communal estate. You can therefore rest assured that plans are in hand, driven by Mrs Muscat, for the Muscats to buy a new home so that she will shift from owning nothing to at least owning 50% of the new marital home.

The permit is in his name, he wasn’t married at the time, his father paid for everything, and the building that was demolished to make way for the two new housing units belonged to his family.
