You have a lot to learn about the Constitution of Malta and the separation of powers.

1. The Commissioner of Police is appointed by the government but does not take orders from the government.

2. The Commissioner of Police does no more await a request from a corrupt politician to investigate him than he can take an order from that same corrupt politician (or any other) to investigate anybody else.

3. If the Commissioner of Police breaches the above, then he is guilty of abuse of power himself.

Then he should head for the exit. Failing to investigate or prosecute to keep your job is not what a man of integrity would do, and the Commissioner of Police has to be a man of integrity, and be perceived as such.
