The Nationalist Party must hammer the message home. There are many people who don't understand exactly what's going on and the only thing they have grasped is that Panama is a black-listed jurisdiction. The facts needs to be explained in simple terms. I don't think it's that difficult.

1. The persons who have been involved in all the major government projects and contracts in Malta over the last 3 years with values running into hundreds of millions of euros are the Prime Minister, his chief of staff and Konrad Mizzi. A large proportion of these contracts have been negotiated with persons and countries that are known to be corrupt.

2. By chance and through Daphne, we discover that two out of these three persons set up asset-holding vehicles designed to ensure that they conceal the identity of the beneficial owner of those assets. These vehicles were set up after they became government officials.

3. It is well known that similar vehicles have been used in big corruption scandals for the purpose of paying bribes to corrupt politicians.

These 3 facts bundled together create a strong suspicion of corruption.

The Nationalists should ensure that people are able to distinguish the difference between this set of facts and the deceitful Labour party propaganda and its Ann Fenech story. They must try and try again.

The tactic of our Slick Joey has always been to wait, hoping against hope that a problem be forgotten.

He is always waiting for a report from some magisterial enquiry, and even then, faced with the evidence, he is loath to move. The only time he quickly took action was in the sacking of the bungling Anglu Farrugia from the post of party deputy leader who was proving to be a liability in the run up to the general election.

He certainly showed no hurry or any enthusiasm to move in the Manwel Mallia case or the Michael Falzon case. He might be tempted to do the same in this case if left to his own devices. He has, however, also hinted at an easy solution through the payment of a fine.

May I add an observation which has been nagging me for some time? The grilling which Toni Abela has to face is no joke.

Would they ask Dr Abela what action he took when his counterpart Anglu Farrugia revealed that there were shady characters dealing with Muscat's inner circle?

Wouldn't they ask him what his reaction is to Panamagate? About the brick of cocaine at the Labour Party Club?

Would he like to continue working in the party as deputy leader rubbing shoulders with MUSCAT?

We will see whether our Toni has poor judgement.
