But you’re selling your soul to the devil that way. Sometimes our politicians (MEP’s in this case) have no backbone and no principles.

It’s a bit like these repatriation of funds. It’s disgusting if you ask me. So if you are honest and work hard to earn your money you are taxed in full and those who hide funds and do all sorts of things to avoid tax are then given an amnesty and all is forgiven at a small price.

So many honest businessmen have to shut down because they cannot make enough money due to unfair competition. Nobody really helps them. Their debts are not forgiven.

Instead of taking short-cuts the government should beef up its Tax Compliance Unit and start chasing its money for the benefit of all of us.

Those who are caught should not only pay up but should be publicly shamed and criminally charged.

Just to give you an example of how unfair these things could be, I knew a person who had to close his business a few years ago because of competition. He later discovered that his competition was in fact one of those who was cheating on the electricity bills. Even if the cheater paid the fine it will not help this man who was driven out of business.

If it has taken them this long to come to the realisation that most news elsewhere was one press release after another, then they must be really slow.

Many people had had enough of the antics and felt that the government was not strong enough and being blackmailed by them.

Let’s hope Simon Busuttil is doing his homework properly to ensure he has the backing of all his prospective MPs as the chances of having a majority similar to the current government is very unlikely and this gives the rogue politicians the leverage they need.
