If he makes it, every fool under the sun can be an auditor in the European Court of Auditors and that will seriously tarnish my faith in the European Union and its institutions.

The political parties need to set up criteria for nominations such as these. Someone like the Àuditor General, the Acountant General and the Governor of the Central Bank would have surely been more appropriate.

Toni Abela said that he is a lawyer and earned his living as a lawyer. He took his work as a lawyer so seriously that he did not even know which side in a separation case he was representing.

I heard him myself with my own two ears asking his opponent. What about his salary as a deputy leader, his consultancy fees?

He was probably thrown off by that word COURT. He knew only one type of court and thought that a Court of Auditors was the same thing.

By the way, will this be a kind of record for Malta to have its two nominees rejected by Europe: Court of Justice and Court of Auditors?
