I think he answered correctly, as a non-native speaker of English, Abela’s English is excellent despite the odd mistake. I wonder what other EU civil servants with worse English have answered.

I think there is a standard format for nominees’ CVs (No anal Europass nonsense for these privileged imbeciles, but that’s by the by). Elsewhere, it is usual to use the first person. Employers want to know what you did, in language they can understand.

I just hate it when people write their CV using the third person. It just says a lot about a person – for instance: pretending that it was written by somebody else when they would have written what they said themselves (what a lie!) – and it sounds very unprofessional.

Excellent verbal skills in English? And this in a country where English is an official language, unlike, for example, Finland.
