He got into power to be corrupt, not to fight corruption. Jobs for the boys, contracts for cronies, pulling strings for the wife and sundry girlfriends of ministers, putting thousands of people on the payroll in return for favours – that’s all corruption.

That kind of corruption is the thin end of the wedge that leads to the big corruption of the sort for which you need secret companies in Panama and the British Virgin Islands.
