It would be kind of weird if she failed to declare them to the tax authorities, and refused to deposit them at the bank because she would have to provide proof of provenance, but then declares them to parliament, which is not a legally enforceable/defined declaration (code of ethics only). The whole point of cash is that you can hide it. The real question here is about her motivation in declaring it to parliament – pretty much like Manuel Mallia did with his half a million. It’s not honesty, that’s for sure, otherwise she wouldn’t have it in the first place, unless she has very many clients none of whom use a cheque book.

I feel bad for the prime minister. All that great work, and only ~70k in savings. What a humble guy, a true man-of-the people. Why, he hasn’t increased his savings at all this past year. Michelle must be spending all his money on handbags.

If that declaration isn’t a glaring admission of guilt, I don’t know what is. I’d like to get a listing of assets for his wife, children, and even pets.
