In reply to Jozef. Perversely, in the early days Mizzi thought his 'tax efficiency' argument was an acceptable line of defence. Now, there's no mention of tax efficiency any more. it's all about managing a single asset.

Make that the survival of the industry. It’s run to the hills time. Zero tax on foreign activity and the benefit of secrecy makes New Zealand a tax haven. And yet the video must disclaim. It’s that bad.

It is weird how operators seem to think it will be business as usual by Friday.

“Reputational risk” is what New Zealand and its Prime Minister are more worried about. It is Edward Scicluna’s concern too, and so should it be that of all of us.

New Zealand politicians are not worried about Maltese politicians. They are worried about the reputation of their financial services industry.

That’s also the reason why the New Zealand media are covering the story.
