That’s hardly the point. The general public are not police detectives, prosecutors or financial authorities investigators. The parameters are different. The fact is that trust has now been broken permanently, and there is no going back. We know for a fact that they set up companies in Panama and trusts in New Zealand. We know for a fact that they tried to open accounts with at least nine banks in shady jurisdictions and were turned down. We know for a fact that they have been lying through their teeth even when confronted with the facts. We know for a fact that Muscat can’t/won’t let them go. And we also know for a fact that the police haven’t acted though we know that the financial authorities have – which makes the inaction of the police even more concerning. We also now know for a fact that Brian Tonna, who operates out of the Office of the Prime Minister and set up secret companies for all that nest of vipers, also set up one for himself in the British Virgin Islands in June 2013, and that he is invoicing through it – invoicing his own company in Malta – for fees in connection with the sale of Maltese citizenship, which he should not be selling at all anyway in his position because the conflict of interest is frightening.

And that’s all people need to know. It has changed their opinion of Muscat and Mizzi and the government in general completely, and it has also put the spotlight on somebody they never bothered about before: Keith Schembri. The tipping-point has been reached. What happens after this is almost immaterial.
