Yes of course, how stupid we all are, Simon Busuttil and the Negative Party are really damaging Malta’s reputation worldwide. After all, we’re not seeing Konrad Mizzi’s, Keith Schembri’s and Joseph Muscat’s names all over international media, but Simon Busuttil’s. Daphne’s previous posts including screenshots of several news articles from all over the world confirm this.

“Local”

The sure-fire give-away that the text was written by a Maltese person. The Maltese are the only people in the world, to my knowledge, who use “local” when what they mean is “national” or “domestic”.

A national issue, to a Maltese person, is a local issue – and the domestic economy is the “local economy”. Oh, and the national newspapers are “local newspapers”.

Somebody who grew up in any other EU member state, except possibly Luxembourg, will never use the word ‘local’ for national, because local means the village, the town, or the neighbourhood.

Maltese people use local not just because the island is smaller, but because it’s a hang-over from colonial days, when British people called us “the locals”.

Yes, definitely written by a Maltese.

Are these people serious when they talk about a transparent Socialist government in Malta today? Of course not. This government is characterised by obscure secret dealings and underhandeed financial agreements and the creation of secret accounts in money-laundering centres and tax havens conveniently created to receive the proceeds of brokerage and commissions (i.e. graft) from Labourite politically exposed people.
