All those who did not vote for the Nationalists last elections effectively voted Muscat in. That’s how it works in Malta. Thank the Nationalists for lumping us with him by driving people away from them. They are the ones who were short sighted. If you believe things were perfect under them you either have a fetish for blinkers or were into brown nosing them yourself back then. If you couldn’t call a spade a spade at the time you can probably never be expected to do so.

Hogwash. I didn’t vote Labour. We’re in this mess because people ACTIVELY WANTED to vote for Muscat, and now because their choice has turned out to be disastrous, they seek to convince themselves and others that they ‘had no choice’, so as not to feel and be thought culpable.

And telling themselves and others that they did it for the good of the Nationalist Party or that they had no choice is a dsmn sight easier to handle than faxing the stark fact that they have NO insight into personality traits and situations. And that some if them are also pretty thick and amoral.

Exactly, but may I point out that Muscat’s is directed elsewhere and not the electorate. Mussolini then seized the moment to dissolve parliament and install the gran consiglio instead.

His was a defiant move against every opposition and democracy in the name of order and the destiny of Italians.

As the crowds gathered to cheer and cheer.

Adolf Hitler was obsessed with Mussolini’s mastery of rhetoric and studied his speeches to be able to carry out a prolonged series of crises, gaining more seats over every snap election he provoked.

Power need not be necessarily seized with violence. When the President of the Republic won’t exercise the role but implies great concern anyway, the institutional crisis is total.

His is the art of blackmail. What can be done is to uncover who blackmails him.
