Can’t they ever find someone to fill these important posts who is not an ex-party candidate?

I cannot stand this notion of ‘person of trust’. Trust in what? It is not trust in doing the right thing but trust in toeing the bosses line. Trust that the person will not think independently and like a puppet will act in a way the string is pulled.

All government employees should be persons of trust to act professionally and with impartiality. For me ‘persons of trust’ means that they can only be trusted to act crookedly.
