In May 1987, Fenech Adami sought to bring normality back in Malta through reconciliation. I distinctly remember his words during the first mass meeting after the elections, urging people to act through tolerance and not through vengeance.

Frankly, those words managed to dampen – or rather cool down – the ire and quest for retaliation I myself had been harbouring particularly after the December 1981 elections.

The second legislative measure enacted by the new government, in August 1987, was the setting up of the independent Commission for the Investigation of Injustices. That measure helped to a large extent in the so much needed normalisation of the political milieu.

You can’t make this up. Fathers are not supportive of their daughters by going along to watch them parade in fashion shows. They are supportive of their daughters by not being corrupt and not putting themselves at the epicentre of government corruption.

My father never came along to watch me parade in fashion shows (he would probably have rather been taken out and shot than do something like that), but then he didn’t fix corrupt secret offshore companies for the Prime Minister’s henchmen to launder money with, either. And I know which of those two was most useful to me.

I have always wondered whether the Nationalist Party and the Labour Party have some informal agreement not to take serious action against each other when one party takes over leading the country from another.

When the PN took over in 1987 after 16 years(?) of corrupt and violent Labour governments, did any former corrupt Labour ministers like Lorry Sant or leaders (KMB/Mintoff) ever face justice ?

Yes, I believe his younger daughter was one of the models at the event. Mr. Tonna was being a supportive father, with which there is nothing wrong, if I’m honest. The lady in the strange white coat greatly resembles (ex-)Mrs. Tonna.
